Stella Karagianni retired in 2019, having served for 44 consecutive years. She contributed generously and selflessly to the academic community through her research, teaching, and the various administrative positions she held. She has been a loyal and fierce advocate for the public interest and public higher education. Her ethos and altruism have set a high standard for the current and coming generations of academics and students.
The editors and contributors of this volume feel fortunate to know and to have collaborated with Prof. Karagianni. We have been inspired by her constant industriousness, her diligence, and her devotion to high ideals, and we wish her a very happy retirement.
