Περιγραφή
The book brings architects and archaeologists working in Greece together to further the discourse on the material culture and history of modern and ancient cities with a view to developing a common semantic framework for the two disciplines. Such a discourse is much needed in this period of major interventions in archaeological sites and museums. Indeed, recent international architectural competetions have stirred a keen interest in Greek archaeological sites and museums, necessitating a dialogue between the disciplines of architecture and archaeology. The papers in this volume provide a novel approach to the study of modern and ancient cities, questioning traditional and nationalist understandings of the modern and ancient built environment and proposing an interdisciplinary framework for reserch.
