Περιγραφή

The present volume pays tribute to the lifework of Professor Paraskevi (Paroula) Naskou-Perraki on the occasion of her completion of 35 years of service to the ideals of international law and higher education. It is composed of essays presented by Paroula’s friends, colleagues, and former students. It is a modest yet affectionate token of our gratitude for her benevolent and inspiring influence to our academic and professional lives.

There was no better way to extend this symbolic ‘thank you’ to our beloved friend than to present an academic publication that revolves around the two themes that formed the centerpiece of her research and teaching interests over the years, namely International Organizations and Human Rights. The title does not merely juxtapose these two important thematics. The conjunction ‘and’ is an operative one. It alludes to a two-piece logical operation, namely the formative role of international organizations in the dissemination, evolution, and enforcement of human rights. This is the cause that she championed with indefatigable vigor for over three decades as teacher, researcher, practitioner, policy maker, social actor, and, ultimately, as citizen of her homeland and the world alike.
