Περιγραφή

Under scrutiny in this History are the Greek populations of the Ottoman Empire and in the Venetian possessions: it is therefore the history of the conquered, aiming to reveal the mechanisms regulating the economy in which they participated as factors of production, either because it was the fruit of their labour or because it became theirs once these conquered people constituted the factors of the market. This is a multiform economic world; it is examined here through different thematic entities and chronological categories as ensuing from the phenomena unfolding within this framework: the world of the conquered in centres of production, their financial position within the system of exercise of power, their networking in the wider sphere of economic exchange and their ensuing partial or gradual integration as these conquered people created goods and managed them.
