Exploring English 4 provides study material for two lessons a week over a period of twenty-six weeks.
Its key features are:
-Reading texts: each topic-based unit presents various aspects of that topic, explored through texts of different styles. Extensive use of dialogues allows for the presentation of authentic, situational English. Contemporary issues and the real-life themes dealt with are also relevant to examinations such as the First Certificate in English.
-Grammar: coverage of grammatical phenomena and functions is simple but thorough. It is always fully exploited in context, through interesting and appropriate activities that enable students to apply with confidence what they`ve learnt. Many of the activities follow the FCE Use of English format.
-Vocabulary building: there is extensive vocabulary development and word-building, practised through a variety of stimulating tasks.
-Skills work: the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are developed through effective step-by-step techniques. These skills areas are designed to help students:
Read with understanding and confidence,
Write simply and correctly,
Listen to develop aural abilities and
Speak fluently and aim at oral competence.
-Communicative activities: these make the learning process easier and more enjoyable. They also encourage students to want to communicate in English.
-Regular revision: constant recycling and revision ensures thorough practice of material previously taught.
-Word usage: an invaluable alphabetical guide with examples, which covers correct semantic and grammatical usage of words.
